‘ONLY ONE MONTH LEFT FOR SURIMEP 2017!’
Paramaribo, Suriname – October 02, 2017: Over 200 delegates are expected to attend the 2nd edition of the Suriname International Mining Energy & Petroleum Conference & Exhibition (SURIMEP 2017). The event will take at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKF), conference and exhibition centre in Paramaribo, from the 1-3 November 2017.

While there is no doubt that the last two years have been particularly difficult for Suriname’s extractive industries; 2017 however, has shown itself to be a more positive year with Newmont/Surgold starting commercial production from the Merian gold mine at the end of last year and Hess, ExxonMobil and Statoil signing production sharing agreements this summer.
Surrounding this current resurgence of the extractive sector and the need for diversification of the economy, SURIMEP 2017 will take place hosting a panel of international and national industry elites and key decision makers. SURIMEP 2017 will comprise of three days of insightful conference sessions discussing the contributions of the sector and how its industrialization can contribute to the diversification of the country’s economy, targetted networking, post-event touristic and industry tours.
The theme of SURIMEP 2017 will be: “Optimizing resource industry linkages to catalyse Suriname’s economic development.”
